Woking team attend GEMS training course

Members of the Woking CFRT attended a GEMS (Geriatric education for Emergency Medical Services) training course. The course, which was aimed at improving the team’s understanding of elderly patients, is part of an ongoing training package.

First Responder Tim Harwood says:

“We frequently encounter elderly patients and as their symptoms are generally atypical it can be difficult to make a quick and accurate assessment of their condition. The GEMS course helped us to better understand the physiological impact of aging alongside the importance of showing respect and isolating elder abuse”
